The I Inter-Parliamentary VOX Andalucía-Ceuta-Melilla has ended this Saturday with a working day in which the problems common to the three territories have been put on the table and in which a roadmap has been marked to strengthen collaboration with actions that result in the development of autonomous cities. For this reason, the president of VOX Ceuta, Juan Sergio Redondo, wanted to underline that this meeting is "a sign of VOX's commitment to the present and future of Ceuta and Melilla."

"VOX has a firm commitment to the defense of our Spanishness and that the Ceuta are on an equal footing with the rest of the Spanish so that there is no first, second or third class," said Redondo. Along the same lines, the president of VOX Melilla, José Miguel Tasende, has pointed out the "importance" that, from VOX, Ceuta, Melilla and Andalusia go to work together.

After the meeting, held at the Hotel Puerta de África, Redondo explained how a work agenda has been set "in many aspects in which for Ceuta collaboration with Andalusia is necessary, such as health, economic development, or tourism". "This is the first inter-parliamentary, but it is intended to have continuity and not only will it be limited to the scope of specific meetings, but it will have a permanent follow-up of the issues that have been put on the table," the president warned of VOX Ceuta, which trusts that, in the shortest possible time, the results will be visible in the social, welfare, economic or health fields.

The spokesperson for the VOX Parliamentary Group in Andalusia, Alejandro Hernández, has stressed the need to maintain this type of meeting and give it periodicity to "have first-hand knowledge of the different problems of the autonomous cities." Although he recalled that there is a collaboration protocol between Ceuta and Andalusia signed in 2019, Hernández pointed out that, now that they are immersed in the negotiation of the Andalusian budgets for 2021, they will work so that “some of Ceuta's demands can be welcomed by Andalusia for a question of justice ”. "From the perspective of VOX, it is a priority to guarantee the permanence of a hallmark such as Ceuta and Melilla", he stated.

"It is about seeing how we can achieve progress that is practical for the daily lives of citizens, and not lip service that is not reflected in concrete realities," said the president of VOX Melilla. Tasende has pointed out that the existing collaboration agreements so far are "empty documents, with very generic declarations of intent that had not been carried out" and has assured that this is what VOX will not repeat.

Visit to the border fence

After the meeting, in which the national VOX deputies for Ceuta and Cádiz, Teresa López and Carlos Zambrano, the senator, Yolanda Merelo, the deputies of the VOX Parliamentary Group in the city, Carlos Verdejo, Francisco Ruiz and Ana Belén participated. Cifuentes, and the parliamentary coordinator of Andalusia, Iván Vélez, has made a visit to the Ceuta border. And the fact is that immigration is also a common problem and that is why Redondo has insisted that VOX's position is clear: "Whoever enters illegally has to leave our territory immediately, whether they are older or underage." "We are going to continue to demand that the Government fulfill its obligations in defending our borders to prevent the massive entry of illegal immigration," said the president of VOX Ceuta.
