Rota, November 6, 2020. – The Municipal Group of VOX Rota, through your councilor Esther Ceballos-Zúñiga, will take to the next Municipal Plenary a motion in which he requests the free distribution of masks, to the population over 6 years of age, as long as its use is mandatory as a preventive measure against Covid-19.

The crisis generated by the pandemic has hit hard the weaker economic sectors due to the poor management of the central government. There are still many workers who have not received the ERTE benefit, the same happens with the almost non-existent minimum vital income promised, many small entrepreneurs have had to close their businesses or are experiencing numerous difficulties to continue. All of this means that many families are seeing each other in a critical situation that, on many occasions, makes it impossible for them to even buy the most basic and necessary food.

From VOX Rota we understand that the government team must be sensitive before this harsh reality and help citizens in these difficult times.

For all this, and given that since last May the use of masks is mandatory as the main preventive measure against Covid-19, we demand that the local government the free supply of masks, hygienic or surgical, as long as they are mandatory for all neighbors over six years of age.

Likewise, we urge the City Council to request the Junta de Andalucía to provide the corresponding item in the budgets for the financing of said material.

Finally, the motion also asks the Plenary to urge the central government to declare VAT-exempt the acquisition of masks by individuals.

In this way, the Municipal Group of VOX Rota insists on the need to carry out the necessary efforts, by public administrations, so that citizens do not have to bear the cost of mandatory masks.
