José Luís Aguirre, Vice-president of VOX Valencia and regional deputy; Joaquin Alés, a provincial deputy and several VOX coordinators have met with a group of rice farmers from the Albufera Natural Park area to exchange views and listen to the problems they suffer. Among the issues discussed have raised those generated by agricultural roads and their maintenance since the passage of harvesters and machinery usually spoil them and they need help for their conservation. They must also use materials that respect the environment and this maintenance should be done every year.
The unfair foreign competition of all agricultural products, as a result of the signing by the EU with third countries, has been another of the issues that the Valencian rice growers have put on the table. As well as the problems generated by the burning of rice straw, its possible uses and alternatives.
José Luís Aguirre explains that “They have also transmitted to us the problem of the tunnel that was built 50 years ago on a provisional basis, since it passes under the El Saler highway. And at the same time that it divides the district of Pinedo, it cuts off the passage of large-tonnage agricultural machinery, apart from the trucks -which due to their outdated GPS- deviate from the V-30 to go to the port and have to do go back because they don't fit ".
VOX has taken note of all these concerns and will try to transfer it to the institutions where VOX has representation so that a solution can be found to all these problems that seriously harm our rice farmers.
