Investigation Development
The investigation began last January, when there was knowledge of the existence of a criminal organization based in the municipalities of Huelva, Punta Umbría and Isla Cristina and Lepe, the latter being where they would be carrying out most of the operations of drug trafficking
As a result of the investigations carried out, it was learned that the organization, in addition to introducing large amounts of hashish on the coast for several years, would also have carried out hashish shelters with a minimum periodicity of 4000 kilograms per month having reached introduce up to 12,000 kilos in just one week.
Continuing with the investigations, the agents were able to verify that one of the members of the organization would be running an important business of sale and rental of horses and charres, which made it a well-known and widely related neighbor, thus hindering the work of investigation since he was assiduously informed by third parties of the non-uniformed police presence in the town.
Likewise, it was determined that the members of the organization used as a center of operations to carry out meetings related to drug trafficking, some blocks located in the town of Lepe, in which they adopted strong security measures since they had people who They carried out area surveys nearby to detect a possible police presence.
Continuing with the investigation phase, the agents were able to verify that in the middle of the month of June, the members of the organization launched a semi-rigid boat that sailed to the Moroccan coast, where it carried out an important load of hashish and that later would try to introduce by the river Guadiana until one of the known like narco-jetty.
Once the semi-rigid boat loaded with hashish arrived at the mouth of the river, a fishing boat was waiting for him to provide adequate coverage to the semi-rigid entrance and thus avoid being detected by the police technical elements.
Due to the fact that this operation was thwarted for unknown reasons, the semi-rigid vessel returned offshore, where it remained until June 24 when, in broad daylight, it approached the coast again, facing the Arrow of the Rompido , to transfer your cargo to a recreational boat that later went to the Piedras River taking advantage, to go unnoticed, the existence at that time and in summer time of a high traffic of this type of boats.
For this reason, the police air and maritime means were activated, forcing the organization to shed the cargo, and a total of 60 bales with a weight of approximately 2,000 kilos could intervene.
Extensive infrastructure and high security measures
To avoid being detected, the members of the organization adopted high security measures, being significant the fact that in the entire perimeter of one of the narco-piers they had placed numerous hunting surveillance cameras, which they hid among the vegetation to detect any outsider who could try to access it.
On the other hand, in order to give security to the stalls that were introduced along the Huelva coast, the members of the organization came to rent an attic floor in the vicinity of a well-known beach, in order to install a radar and technical elements that They were used to detect the presence of the means used by agents, such as Maritime Service vessels or even surveillance helicopters.
In this floor they also kept plans of the area in which they indicated where they should place the people who made up the safety device at the time when the stalls were carried out. In addition, they had instruments for detecting location devices, including up to date unmanned aircraft, elements that they would use at the time when the work of introducing the drug into the coast was carried out.
The detainees were made available to the Ilmo. Mr. Judge of the Court of Instruction No. 4 of Ayamonte.
