Ignacio Garriga, VOX deputy for Barcelona, today presented three questions to the table of the Congress of Deputies based on the insufficient investment planned in the Draft Law of General State Budgets for 2021 for the Ebro Delta.
As Garriga explained “in the Project presented by the Government of Sánchez and Iglesias for the next fiscal year, They have only planned an investment of 580,000 euros to implement measures to preserve the Ebro Delta ”. And he highlighted "an amount, without a doubt, insufficient".
Ignacio has highlighted that “the Ebro Delta it is the largest wetland in Catalonia and the third largest delta in the Mediterranean, so its ecological and natural value is beyond doubt”. And he added that "it is an area that requires many economic resources to preserve this natural enclave."
The VOX Deputy for Barcelona recalled the heartbreaking testimonies of those affected in the area during his visit after the storm Gloria “I saw how they had suffered the heavy damage of the storm on their lands and homes. I visited the Buda Island, a natural environment of more than 1000 hectares of which about 25% are rice fields or were, because it had really become an economic, ecological and environmental catastrophe”.
It is inadmissible that the aid provided for in the 2020 budget has not yet reached those affected
Apart from the insufficiency in the amount of planned investment, Ignacio Garriga, also questions the measures that the Ministry for the Ecological Transition plans to carry out and the demographic challenge for the preservation of the Ebro Delta, for which he asks that they be stated in writing , as well as the certainty of if it is possible to implement effective measures to preserve the Ebro Delta, as requested by the Parliament of Catalonia, the "Taula del Delta" and the municipalities affected with the planned investment.
Regarding the 6,000,000 that the Parliament of the Generalitat had planned in the 2020 budgets for the Delta, Ignacio Garria, considers that “it is inadmissible that these aid has not yet reached those affected. After the temporary Gloria, the Government of the Generalitat, approved a game of 6 million to protect and conserve the Delta, but to date they have not been executed and the Delta cannot continue waiting for front policies, we must act ”. Also, Ignacio urges the Government of the Nation to "mediate between affected parties, the municipalities and the Irrigation Communities, on the one hand, and the Generalitat, on the other, to reach an agreement for the 6 million euros to be executed this year 2020, as planned ”.
To conclude, Garriga wanted to reaffirm his commitment to work for the Ebro Lands and has ensured that "from the training they will not stop working in the territory ”.
