The Popular Parliamentary Group in the Senate has presented a motion, for discussion in the Interior Commission, in which it asks the Government to grant financial aid to those affected by the temporary Gloria and to declare “an area seriously affected by an emergency of protection ”the municipalities and Autonomous Communities that have suffered the ravages of the storm.

The popular ones highlight in the text of the motion the damages suffered in the Mediterranean coast during the Gloria storm, which occurred between January 19 and 23, and that has wreaked havoc in Catalonia, Valencia, Region of Murcia, Balearic Islands, Almeria, Granada and Malaga.

In addition, remember that rain, snow and wind in interior areas of Lleida, Teruel, Zaragoza and Albacete, have also caused numerous incidents: suspended classes, roads cut, delays and interruptions the rail service and diverted flights.

Therefore, the GPP requests financial assistance to individuals who have damage to their private homes and belongings; compensate affected local corporations; approve aid for natural or legal persons who have performed the personal provision of services or goods, as well as industrial, commercial and service establishments affected by Gloria.

Likewise, the popular in the Senate urge the Executive to approve, as soon as possible, subsidies for damage to municipal infrastructure and provincial road network; in agricultural, livestock and forestry productions; and apply fiscal, labor and Social Security measures.

With regard to farms, the motion presented by the Popular Group calls for the evaluation of exceptional measures to authorize the reduction of net yield indices in the areas affected by the storm.

Finally, they explain that the storm has wreaked havoc on beaches, boardwalks and street furniture, has caused flooding due to the flooding of rivers and streams, the closure of port facilities, as well as destruction of private homes.
