Civil Guard agents, in a joint operation with the National Police, have dismantled an international organization dedicated to drug trafficking from Spain to Belgium. The group of Belgian and Moroccan origin settled mainly in the province of Seville and was supplied with the drug through local suppliers. They used the go fast method – transporting the drug in a vehicle at a high speed and without refueling – in addition to a transport company to get the illicit merchandise to Belgium. During the operation, 23 people have been arrested and 13 house searches have been carried out – 11 in Seville and two in Malaga – in which 475 marijuana plants, 725 kilograms of hashish, more than 8,300 euros in cash, three vehicles, various weapons and ammunition.
The beginning of the investigation took place at the beginning of the year 2020 when the Belgian authorities informed the Spanish agents of the activities of this network in our country. Once the investigations began, the investigators verified that the members of this drug trafficking group were established in the provinces of Jaén and Málaga and that they also used the go fast method, which consists of crossing the peninsula quickly to their destination to deliver marijuana and hashish. to Belgium. For this they had a car rental company, whose sole purpose was to provide the necessary vehicles to transport the drug.
Change of means to hide the drug
After several police interventions carried out in the transport that the organization used, it changed the means to hide the drug. In this way, drug traffickers in our country began to rent trucks in which the narcotic was later loaded and sent to Belgium hidden in the legal cargo. Using this new method, the researchers were able to accredit two shipments, the last one carried out in January 2021.
Subsequently, and once those responsible for this branch in charge of distributing the drug had been identified and the modus operandi used by this transport company had been registered, the appropriate arrests and searches were carried out in both countries simultaneously. In Spain, the owner and driver of the trucks, both Spanish, were arrested, as well as a Moroccan citizen who owns the transport company, considered responsible for organizing drug shipments from our country. Two other people were also arrested in Barcelona and Seville. For its part, the operation in Belgium resulted in the arrest of 24 people in that country and in France.
Preparing a drug party
Once the investigations were advanced and after identifying the suppliers of this international network that operated in Spain, the agents verified that they were mainly settled in the province of Seville, where they had various farms from which they distributed the narcotic and carried out marijuana crops. Likewise, last June, those under investigation were preparing a drug consignment and for this they had a truck that they had loaded with 725 kilograms of hashish in one of the farms located in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville). Once full, it left for Madrid via the A4 motorway, where it was intercepted by a patrol of agents in Jaén, who, after checking the illicit merchandise, proceeded to arrest its two occupants.
Continuing with the investigation of these same providers, the researchers were able to establish the infrastructure that the organization had, in addition to confirming that it had branches in the province of Malaga. In this way, and once all the members and places where it operated were identified, a police operation was established in which 13 house searches were carried out -11 in Seville and two in Malaga- in which 475 plants, two kilograms of hashish, more than 8,300 euros in cash, three vehicles, two ammunition shotguns, a simulated shotgun, a revolver, a compressed air gun, in addition to 15 cartridges and two boxes of blank ammunition. The rest of the members of the plot were also arrested -16 in Seville and two in Malaga-.
For its part, in Belgium, five vehicles, two pistols, 15,000 euros in cash, a stolen motorcycle and eight stolen vehicles in Belgium and Valenciennes (France) were seized during the searches.
