The PP Spokesperson in the European Parliament, Dolors Montserrat, today asked the European Commission to investigate the recent presence at the Madrid airport of the vice president of Nicolás Maduro, Delcy Rodríguez, to know “the whole truth” about this episode, since Rodriguez is prohibited from entering European territory in under the sanctions imposed in 2018 by the EU on the Venezuelan regime.
“Given the seriousness of these events, we ask the European Commission to collect all the information to know the truth, and to demand Pedro Sánchez to comply with the resolutions of the Council of the EU, because we cannot allow a European government to violate community law ”, Said Dolors Montserrat during the plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels.
The popular spokeswoman recalled that "the European Commission is the guardian of the EU treaties, and of all community derivative law, including the decisions of the Council and its regulations, which bind all member states."
By allowing Delcy Rodríguez to step on Spanish territory for several hours, which is a Schengen area, Dolors Montserrat stressed, the Government of Pedro Sánchez has violated the agreement of the EU Council on sanctions on the regime of Nicolás Maduro.
