The Government team of the Benalmádena City Council, made up of PSOE and IU, have overturned a Motion presented by VOX in which the Council was urged to vindicate the Spanish legacy in America as a sample of coexistence and multicultural and multiracial integration in the history of the Humanity.
The VOX councilor in the Benalmádena City Council, Gema Carrillo, denounced in her letter the unfolding of an “iconoclastic fury” that is taking place especially in the US, which supposes “an attack against the Spanish legacy in which at the time was called New World. For this reason, the councilor urged by condemning the acts of Hispanophobia against our heritage in the American continent.
After the Plenary, the councilor has denounced the lack of historical knowledge of the leaders of the municipality, despite the fact that, in his writing, Carrillo clarifies that "in the antipodes of the genocide sustained by the most fanatized cultivators of the black legend, Spain, daughter also from that America, he forged a mestizo society in which the language of Cervantes allows hundreds of millions of people to communicate ”.
The councilor also explains that "a new area was opened for the scientific, economic and social development of a world that saw its limits expanded." In addition, he recalls that "the consideration of the natives as subjects of the Crown, not slaves, allowed the obligation of wages and Sunday rest, among others."
Thus, the Motion urged the City Council to vindicate the Spanish culture and language as well as our heroes and traditions, “leaving evidence of the pride that being part of the legacy of Hispanidad represents for us, which, far from belonging exclusively to us, forms the legacy common to all the peoples and nations of Latin America ”.
