The Civil Guard detains a former Colombian policeman in Barcelona accused of the murder of a woman
The events that are charged to him occurred in the Colombian city of Obando, which had great media relevance in the South American country due to the outstanding social work performed by the victim
The detainee, thanks to his professional knowledge, has used great security measures to hide himself from justice and from any police action on his person
Since its creation in 2014, the UCO Civil Guard Escape Team from Justice has established itself as a national and international benchmark in the search and location of fugitives
The Civil Guard, in the so-called TREJOS operation, carried out in collaboration with the Colombian Police, has arrested the 34-year-old Colombian citizen MTA in Barcelona, claimed by the authorities of his country for the homicide of a woman perpetrated in the city Colombian woman from Obando in May of last year.
Apparently, the detainee entered the home of the victim, a 70-year-old woman and a well-known social educator in her city of residence, with the intention of stealing money and jewelry, but when he met her inside the house, he ended up with his life with a knife.
Flight through several Spanish cities
Following these events, M.T.A fled to Spain, for which an International Detention Order was activated through INTERPOL at the request of the Colombian authorities. Once this request was received at Interpol-Madrid, the Spanish Civil Guard Fleeing Team took over the investigation in Spain.
The first inquiries focused on the whereabouts of the fugitive in the town of Seseña (Toledo), from where it was found that he had moved to Barcelona seeking safety and protection among family and friends.
Already in Barcelona and after subjecting the fugitive's closest surroundings to a discreet surveillance, it was not possible to locate him, but, on the contrary, it was possible to certify that he would have traveled to Palma de Mallorca, where he could stay for around 9 months .
Continuing his flight through different cities, and feeling increasingly surrounded by investigators, M.T.A decided to return to Barcelona, where he was finally arrested at the end of last month when he left one of the homes monitored by the agents.
It should be noted that, according to the Colombian authorities, M.T.A. was a member of the National Police in his country for 14 years, whose experience has served him to hide and try not to leave any trace that would facilitate his location.
Justice fled team (UCO)
The Civil Guard has a highly specialized and qualified team for the active search for fugitives from justice, especially those who are highly dangerous, particularly complex or linked to clans and international cartels.
This Team was created within the Central Operational Unit in 2014 with the task of carrying out the necessary steps to locate in Spain and abroad people who have fled from justice or claimed to comply with different procedural measures, both by the Spanish judicial authorities within the framework of their powers, as well as by foreign authorities with respect to their nationals located in our country.
In the same way, it is necessary to highlight the importance of international collaboration in the performance of the functions of this Team, not only for the arrest in Spain of fugitives from other countries, but also to carry out arrests of those claimed by the Spanish justice hidden in countries. foreign.
Since its creation, this Team Fleeing Justice has increased its activity year after year, carrying out important arrests of people claimed by the authorities of their respective countries for the commission of serious crimes such as homicides, child sexual abuse, kidnappings, murders, extortion and torture etc., many of them appearing on the lists of the most wanted and dangerous criminals in their countries of origin.
Among the most important arrests made by the Civil Guard in the framework of the collaboration that has been developing with the Colombian National Police, in addition to the arrest of the MTA, the arrest of a person of Israeli nationality claimed by Colombia for homicide and induction of the prostitution of minors and the arrest of a member of the former United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), a group dedicated in the city of Cali, to extortion, torture and multiple homicides.
This operation has been carried out by the Justice Escape Team of the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard together with the International Investigations Group OCN Interpol of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol (DIJIN) of the Police Nacional de Colombia, with the support of the Judicial Police Section of the Civil Guard Zone in Catalonia.
