The lack of coordination shows that the state of the autonomies is failed. The spokesman for the parliamentary group VOX in Aragon has appeared at a press conference. Santiago Morón has referred to three issues that mark the Aragonese and national political agenda. Motion of censure, Decree Law on health alert in Aragon and the preparation of budgets in the Community.
Motion of censure
First, the motion of censure that VOX defends today in the Congress of Deputies. "The motion of censure is pertinent and necessary," Morón pointed out. Relevant due to the disastrous management of the pandemic by the Government and the questioning that it has made of the highest institutions of the State. The motion is against the government. Raise an alternative and call elections. Never has a motion of censure been more justified, Morón pointed out.
Decree Law
Regarding the Decree Law that regulates the health alert situation in Aragón, Santiago Morón has indicated that the Sánchez government has not legislated norms to deal with outbreaks. And in the absence of defined health criteria, with the worsening of the crisis, on many occasions it has opted for political criteria. This lack of coordination has shown that the state of the autonomies is in failure, Morón stressed.
Therefore, from VOX we wonder if it is appropriate to legislate in Aragon on the legal health alert regime for the control of the COVID-19 pandemic. Every time the Government of Aragon assumes an attribution that must be a state competence.
But at VOX we are not in favor of its urgent processing. Restrictive measures must have all the appropriate legal precautions and should be common to those adopted in other Autonomous Communities.
Community Budgets
Regarding the budgets for 2021, Morón has stated that "the current situation forces us to establish new priorities and redirect the resources that are going to be decimated." We believe that administrations should set an example, with containment of unnecessary public spending, with the aim of redirecting resources to urgent needs. Morón has illustrated the seriousness of the current economic situation with some data. The fall in the Aragonese Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 21.4% compared to 2019. Unemployment in Aragon, which at the last day of September 2020 stood at 76,710 people. And the almost 15,000 workers remain at ERTE.
To this data must be added the debt of more than 8,800 million that continues to grow. And what is more than 6,000 euros per Aragonese. Or the 300 million deficit at the end of the year 2019. And the extra 860 million, which the Government has stated that it will need to guarantee public services.
Faced with this situation, VOX demands from the Government responsibility in the management of public resources, rigor and good sense. “The budget should not serve to comply with the claims of the partners who support the government. Nor do we finance structures, beach bars or ideological entities that we cannot afford. And that they should never have been financed with public resources ”, Morón stressed.
VOX priorities
Santiago Morón has referred to the priorities that the Government should reflect in the budget for fiscal year 2021:
- Provide the Aragonese Health System with the human and material resources and the necessary infrastructures so that they can provide a quality service. We cannot fool ourselves with clearly insufficient items, which year after year must undergo modifications to meet the payroll at the end of the year. We demand rigor. In Teruel and Alcañiz they have been waiting for years for a hospital that does not run. For us this is an unmitigated suspense to all previous executives.
- Likewise, provide the educational system with the human and material resources and the necessary infrastructures so that they can provide a quality service. We ask for realistic budget items that are appropriate to the needs of the educational community. The lack of foresight leads to overcrowding and prefabricated classrooms that in a COVID context increases risks for those who must be object of greater protection.
- Also, meet the needs of the most vulnerable. Faced with the failure of the Minimum Living Income, serious measures must be taken and propaganda aside. Raising taxes now, as intended, even if they are indirect, is negative for domestic economies and has a clear impact on consumption and therefore on economic recovery.
- And finally, the Government must prioritize the destination of public resources to maintain and strengthen the productive fabric of our region, true generators of employment and wealth. Betting on helping SMEs and the self-employed so hit by the crisis, lowering the tax burden and reducing social costs and bureaucracy and injecting liquidity.
Santiago Morón has considered it very necessary to promote measures to rationalize public spending. “And bet on thinning the administration by adjusting some unnecessary and superfluous items prioritizing needs. We have a public sector that we cannot afford. The government structure has grown considerably in the last legislature to accommodate its government partners, when the extreme and extreme situation that citizens suffer today advises the opposite.
If the Government works in this line, the VOX Parliamentary Group will be at your disposal. It is the future of the Aragonese and of future generations that is at stake, has concluded the spokesperson for VOX in the Cortes of Aragon.
