The Parliamentary Group VOX Asturias has registered this morning in the General Meeting of the Principality a letter requesting the Principality to extend the initial period of five calendar days for the self-employed affected by the closure, decreed by the regional government, to request the aid announced last Friday. The VOX spokesperson, Ignacio Blanco, announced today that such a limited period will cause many self-employed workers – who carry out activities in the retail, tourism, hotel and restaurant sectors – to stay out of time to access the aid provided after forcing at the close of business due to a “decision made by BOPA” by Adrián Barbón. "First they do not let them work, and now they are suffocated with very tight deadlines, thus limiting their possibilities to access said aid."
"Thousands of Asturians have had to turn the key to their business and have been denied work and now that the Executive announces some aid, which also from VOX we have already denounced on numerous occasions that we consider scarce, five calendar days is a very short time for that the self-employed have ready all the documentation required by the Government of Adrián Barbón ”. In fact, the spokesperson explains, "many of those affected have already conveyed their fear of being left out of aid". Likewise, Ignacio Blanco continues, “the consultancies assure us that they will be overwhelmed by the requests they receive from their clients and, added to just having five calendar days, it will leave many freelancers on the road who urge these aid even if they are very limited ”.
In the letter presented to the Asturian Parliament to urge the regional government to request a wider margin for these sectors, Blanco points out that "if you really want the aid to arrive, you do not have to establish time limits to take advantage of them so brief" .
Furthermore, once again, professionals linked to these sectors have seen how, for the President of the Principality and his government team, "they are second-rate Asturians." "We still do not know under which health reports the President of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, relies on to decree the closure of retail stores and hotels, and also announces that it delays the decision of a possible opening of retail stores until next week when , days ago, I was going to announce the start of activity last Thursday. "He has abandoned them again," concludes Ignacio Blanco.
