During the so-called First Operation Summer Exit, which begins this Friday, June 28 and ends on June 30, the bus companies will reinforce all their services by 37%, 4% more than in 2018.
If we talk about bus transport, which will be chosen by more than 7.5 million passengers in the month of July, it represents a safe, economic, ecological and high quality, which has a 46% share compared to the 27% of the air, 26% of the railroad and 1% of the maritime transport.
Bus transportation is presented as the most suitable option, since it is one of the safest and most used modes:
- It is a means of transport adapted to the new demands and needs of travelers. Most bus companies offer on-board wifi services, chargers for mobile devices, touch screens with entertainment offer or special menus for long-distance travel, among others.
- Is three times cheaper that the private vehicle or the airplane, twice cheaper than the AVE and 1.3 times cheaper than the long and medium distance train. The Spanish concession model allows comparatively much more affordable rates than other countries with liberalized models.
- It is a way very sure, with levels similar to those of aviation or rail. Regarding the private vehicle, it is 20 times safer. If we look at the number of deaths, it participates in 0.2% of accidents with road victims. In fact, the accident rate of the bus is the smallest of the modes of road transport.
- It is the socially mode more efficient, generating less negative externalities (pollution, noise, climate change, accidents, etc.) and the way that less polluting emissions generates, 2.6 times less than the railway and 6 times less than the automobile. The displacement by coach annually prevents the emission into the atmosphere of about 5 million tons of CO2.
The good performance of the tourism sector in Spain represents a relevant boost for the bus sector. Spain ranks second in the world in reception of foreign tourists according to the UNWTO and where the coach plays a key role connecting in a sustainable way a large number of enclaves of diverse interest and municipalities of all sizes throughout the country, allowing to reach where other ways do not access the populations more recondite while traveling with all possible comforts.
The bus fleets thanks to their levels of quality, professionalism, safety and comfort, they contribute to a better image of the country in tourists, favoring the Spanish economy. In addition, it contributes to sustainable mobility, since it reduces pollution.
