The Council of Ministers has approved a Royal Decree appointing the president, vice president and three advisers to the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC).

Cani Fernández will be the new president of the CNMC and the Competition Chamber, replacing José María Marín Quemada. Ángel Torres will be the new vice president of the organization and responsible for the Regulation Room, while Pilar Sánchez, Carlos Aguilar and Josep Maria Salas join as directors.

The appointments have been approved once the Committee on Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation of the Congress of Deputies accepted on June 11 the candidates proposed by the Government.

The mandate of the five people whose appointment has been approved today is for a period of six years with no possibility of re-election. The CNMC has a president, a vice president and eight councilors, of whom four belong to the Competition Chamber, which is chaired by the CNMC president, and another four from the Regulation Room, which is chaired by the vice president.
