The VOX municipal group has demanded that the City of Granada increase the budget to be able to expand the staff of the Local Police, as well as provide the agents with the necessary means of protection for the exercise of their profession with total security.

VOX councilor Beatriz Sánchez Agustino has learned, through the Municipal District Boards and neighborhood associations, that “there is a climate of insecurity in the neighborhoods of the capital that worries the people of Granada, as we have been informed of the notable increase in criminal acts in the districts of Zaidín, Ronda, Chana, Beiro or Centro ».

From VOX «we demand that the government team, specifically the Citizen Protection Area, that solutions be put in place immediately in the face of the wave of crimes suffered by our city and we request a budget to increase human and material resources of the Local Police », as it appears in a plea registered by VOX for inclusion in the plenary session of February.

During the Citizen Protection Commission last week, Beatriz Sánchez Agustino moved “the need for an increase in police interventions, for example, in Plaza de los Lobos and San Miguel Alto, two of the areas where complaints have proliferated, and we request information on the actions carried out in Santa Adela and Zona Neptuno, following several shootings, without prejudice to other areas of Granada with security problems such as the North Zone, without wanting to criminalize any of these neighborhoods ».

The VOX councilor also asked the commission for a written report on “the organization and implementation priorities of the neighborhood police, and we ask that you study the possibility of opening new units for the Local Police located in the districts, for greater proximity with the neighbors".

VOX presents an NLP for the Local Police to be declared a risk profession.

The VOX Parliamentary Group has presented a Non-Law Proposal (NLP) in the Congress of Deputies for the declaration as a 'profession of risk' of the agents of the Local Police, as well as urging the Government to change the current regulations and put an end to the differentiation of these officials with respect to the members of the State Security Forces and Bodies in cases of permanent disability or death in the exercise of their activity.

Macarena Olona, deputy for Granada and deputy spokesman for the VOX Parliamentary Group, recalled that the Local Police Corps are "Armed civil institutes that provide an essential public service, ensuring the safety and freedom of citizens to live together." In the performance of their duties, these officials «face, every day, situations of enormous danger that, in a few cases, entail a risk to their own life and physical integrity».

This situation, «of exposure comparable to that experienced by groups integrated in the State Security Forces and Bodies, does not currently have adequate protection in our legal system, given that, unlike the latter groups, the police premises are not included in the scope of the Royal Decree on procedure, conditions and scope of recognition of permanent disability and death and survival benefits for the personnel of the Armed Forces and the State Security Forces and Bodies derived from their inclusion in the General Social Security Regime », as stated in the NLP.
