The Organizing Committee of the Max Performing Arts Awards announces through this announcement the candidates for the 19 contest categories of the 22nd edition of these awards organized by the SGAE Foundation, whose purpose is to stimulate and reward the talent of the professionals of the Theater and Dance of our country, in addition to the promotion of the shows of the season.

A total of 119 shows of the 358 registered they have been selected to participate as candidates in the 22nd edition of the Max Performing Arts Awards, as they have decided, in this first phase, the three territorial juries (Madrid, Catalonia and Autonomous Communities) appointed by the Organizing Committee.

After the first phase of selection, a court formed by the three presidents of the territorial juries, four personalities of the Performing Arts and a member of the Organizing Committee, will be in charge of deciding the finalists of the 19 categories that compete for the 22nd edition of the Max Performing Arts Awards.

The Organizing Committee of the 22nd edition of the Max Performing Arts Awards is composed of Ana Graciani, president of the SGAE Foundation, Pilar Jurado, institutional director of Performing Arts of the SGAE Foundation, the playwrights Eduardo Galán, Yolanda García Serrano, Juan Luis Mira, Paloma Pedrero and the choreographer María Pagés (members of the School of Great Law of the SGAE).

Among all the participants, two trips will be drawn for two people -including entrance, travel and accommodation-, to attend the 22nd edition of the Max Awards as a public. The tables of the Calderón Theater in Valladolid will host the awards ceremony that will take place on May 20.

The SGAE Foundation and the City Council of Valladolid have signed a collaboration agreement for this edition. In the meeting with media, the mayor of Pucelano, Óscar Puente, pointed out that "the presence of the Max Awards in Valladolid was a must. Gustavo Pernas passes away

Died this October 29, was one of the fundamental referents of Galician theater authorship

The viveirense Gustavo Pernas Cora (1959-2018) died on October 29 at 59 years of age. Considered one of the clearest exponents of the contemporary Galician dramaturgy, he joined the SGAE in 1996 with the number 56,205. He left about 20 works registered with a high level of quality and characterized by a look of his own and a strong social commitment. Founder of the company Áncora Producións with his partner, Ánxela G. Abalo, made his author's job compatible with that of producer, stage director and actor.

The work of Pernas Cora as a playwright has been distinguished over the years with multiple awards and recognitions, among which we should highlight two consecutive Max Awards for Best Theatrical Text in Galician for Zebra Crossing (2006) and Final Film (2007, ex aequo). Other works were awarded at the María Casares Awards, Rafael Dieste Prize, Álvaro Cunqueiro Prize, Roberto Vidal Bolaño Prize or Literary Fervenzas Award, among other contests.

The authors and editors of the SGAE regret the loss of Gustavo Pernas Cora, a theater man, and join the pain of his family and loved ones. On the night of this October 30 (8:30 pm) there will be a farewell ceremony at the Albia funeral home in A Coruña.

Max Awards opens the registration phase of shows for its 22nd edition

The call will remain open until November 30, 2018 for all shows premiered since December 2017

Today, Wednesday, October 24, the beginning of 22nd edition of the Max Performing Arts Awards with the opening of the registration period of shows premiered or on tour from December 2017 to December 2018 and to the professionals who have made them in their different artistic and technical aspects.

In the case of theatrical shows, street performances or for children, youth or family audiences, these must have made a minimum of eight performances and have another seven scheduled before June 30, 2019, both nationally and internationally.

The productions that want to participate in the Max 2019 Awards will be able to register their candidacy until November 30, 2018, including those that are scheduled to premiere before December 15th. Likewise, the 19 contest categories are maintained.

The shows may be candidates in one or two consecutive editions of the Max Awards. They may compete for a second edition those shows on tour that, having made a minimum of thirty performances in the second year, have not been finalists in the first edition they attended.

The Aragonese interpreter and choreographer says goodbye to the scenarios

National Dance Award (1989), Max de Honor Award (2008) and Gold Medal for Merit at Work (2016), is considered the Spanish dancer with the most international projection of all time

The dancer and choreographer Víctor Ullate he says goodbye to the stages after more than half a life dancing. And he does it in a very special way: commemorating the 30th anniversary of the creation of his own dance company in 1988. The Teatros del Canal de Madrid host until September 9th the show "Thirty Years of Dance", in which the training reviews its most emblematic creations for more than three hours. A feature that includes fragments of classics like Carmen, Coppélia or Samsara, with music from Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi or Bizet.

Teacher, choreographer and director

Member of the SGAE since 1983 as choreographer, has registered in the entity more than fifty works. Víctor Ullate Andrés (Zaragoza, 1947), considered by Maurice Béjart As one of the most complete dancers of this century, he has been the Spanish dancer with the greatest international projection of all time. His extraordinary classical technique, inculcated by María de Ávila, and his great love of dance, endowed him with an exceptional vocation and will that made him stand out as a soloist very soon. He began his professional career in the XX Century Ballet, under the direction of Maurice Béjart, in which he remained for fourteen years. Notable among its main roles is played in Gaîté Parisienne, created for him by Béjart on his own biography, where he gave life to Béjart himself.

In 1979, the Spanish government entrusted him with the formation of a classical ballet company; the first in the country. Later, in 1983, he created the school that bears his name "Víctor Ullate Dance Center"; turning in teaching and pedagogy. National Dance Award (1989), Gold Medal for Merit at Work (2016), It was MAX Honor Award in the year 2008.

From now on, Ullate will devote herself with passion to a new stage in her life and in ballet: the creation of the House of Dance for underprivileged children ("the dream of her life", in her own words).

The SGAE Foundation launches the second edition of Dance, initiative that aims at the internationalization of contemporary Spanish dance. The sample will be held on days November 22, 23 and 24, 2018 at the Párraga Center in Murcia.

For this reason, the SGAE Foundation opens a public call addressed to:

• All SGAE associate choreographers.
• Spanish contemporary dance companies that do not have any member choreographer from SGAE, use choreographic repertoire registered in SGAE in 100% of their performances. The maximum number of members of the company must be 5 people.

During these days, choreographers and Spanish contemporary dance companies will offer choreographic representations, with a maximum duration of 50 minutes, to the audience, which will include different directors and programmers of European festivals interested in knowing the reality of Spanish dance. In addition, meetings will be organized between festival directors and European dance programmers, invited by Fundación SGAE, and representatives of choreographers and companies. In this edition, the Centro Párraga de Murcia collaborates with the exhibition.

The objectives of this program are: to directly promote the dance of our country, encourage the participation of Spanish dance companies in festivals, promote international tours for SGAE choreographers and promote meetings and the exchange of experiences and knowledge among professionals of the sector (choreographers, artists, representatives, programmers, festival directors, etc.) of our country and the rest of Europe.
